Avocado Skin Care

Feed your skin with Avocado!

Avocado skin care is cheap, simple and best of all it smells and tastes delicious! ;-)

Avocados contain a substantial amount of essential nutrients, minerals, vitamins and anti-oxidants. Avocados are not only good to eat, but they can be used to remedy skin ailments as well as make your skin look and feel amazing!

Before applying any of the treatments listed here, first make sure that you have removed any makeup. Using these DIY treatments after a hot shower is advised.

Avocado Skin Care Remedies

#1. Avocado will make you Look Younger

Yes, avos have amazing anti-aging powers! You can benefit from this by applying it topically and/or by including it in your daily diet.

Avos attribute their abilities to their abundance in Vitamin H, B7, A & E and a very special molecular structure called Sterolins, which can boost collagen production.

#2. Avocado Skin Care will Hydrate your Dry Skin

Avocados are rich in amino acids and proteins which will heal, nourish and hydrate. You can even use avo on a dry scalp, which will also help to get rid of any dandruff.

Avocado oil is readily available at most food stores. Just pour some on and rub into your scalp and hair. Leave on for 15 minutes before shampooing and rinsing. Your hair and scalp will love you for it! For an extra shine, you can mix an egg yolk into the avocado oil. Alternatively, you can add some avo oil to your shampoo and conditioner.

You can use avocado oil on your entire body. Just rub some oil all over after a shower. This will especially help to soften harder areas, such as your knees, heals and elbows.

Refreshing Avocado and Cucumber Face Mask

  • ½ Ripe avo
  • Two slices of cucumber.
  • Mash the avo and apply to your face. Have a lie down and place the cucumber slices on your eye lids. Leave on for as long as your nap lasts ;-) Rinse off and patt dry. Enjoy a softer more supple skin.

Avocado Aloe Hydration Treatment

  • ½ Ripe avo mashed.
  • 1 tbsp of aloe vera
  • Mix the two ingredients and apply to skin. Leave on for at least 15 minutes. Rinse off and patt dry. This is excellent for treating dehydrated skin.

#3. Avocado oil will Protect you from the Sun

Not only will it protect you from the sun, but it can actually heal sunburnt skin. It is naturally soothing too.

Another great alternative is coconut oil

#4.  Avocado Eczema Treatment

Eczema often leaves your skin super dry. Applying some natural avo oil to the area will help to heal and hydrate. I have eczema on my hands and I love to apply avocado oil and coconut oil to my hands daily. It does make a huge difference. I can also add that a daily supplement of Omega 3, 6 and 9 oils also help.

Make your own Eczema soap.

#5. Moisturize your Hands and Remove Stains from your Nails

Make your own natural avocado hand scrub.

  • ½ Avocado mashed
  • 1 tbsp. of lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp of fine brown sugar
  • Mix the ingredients together and massage into your hands gently.

The lemon juice will remove stains from your nails while the sugar exfoliates and the avo hydrates. Rinse off without using soap.

Avos has been shown to strengthen nails if used on a regular basis.

#6. Avocado can be used as a Facial Cleanser

DIY Avocado facial cleanser

  • ½ mashed avocado
  • 6 tbsp of organic almond milk
  • Mix the ingredients together. Use as a face wash.

This is perfect for dry skin types. If you have an oily skin you can use this recipe, but I recommend that you don’t use a moisturizer after this.

#7. Use Avocado as a Stubble / Rasor Burn Remedy

Avocado oil is a natural anti-inflammatory. You can use mashed avo as a shaving cream and avoid all the harmful over-the-counter products that cause pimples and ingrown hairs. The avo will heal and moisturize.

#8. Get Rid of Acne!

Yes, even though avocado contains oil, it can help treat acne. The oil of an avocado is very similar to your own skin’s oil and will therefore not clog your pores. Avo oil will dissolve fat and dirt that clog your pores. Avocado oil is also absorbed quickly and completely when applied.

Avocado Acne Treatment

  • ½ Mashed avo
  • 1 tbsp of lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp of honey

The honey is antibacterial, the lemon juice is healing and the avo removes dirt and oil, replacing it with good oil and moisture. Mix all the ingredients together and apply topically. Leave on for 15 minutes and rinse off. This treatment can be done daily.
