Homemade Body Scrub Recipes

Body scrubs are a popular and trendy beauty treatment that make skin smooth and soft. They work by using a natural ingredient like sugar or salt to gently exfoliate the skin.

Dry skin is removed, and the new skin underneath is revealed. They also smell great. A homemade body scrub is easy and fun to create. It can also be a wonderful gift for friends and family.

You can purchase body scrubs from drugstores or from high end beauty supply stores, but you will find that they are often expensive and sometimes contain ingredients that are not natural.

Enjoy your own homemade body scrub and get all of the body scrub benefits without the expense and chemical ingredients you may find in a store purchased product.

How to Make Body Scrubs

Body scrub recipes typically include a few basic ingredients:

• A rough, exfoliating substance like sugar, salt or oatmeal.

• A base oil like almond oil or sunflower oil.

• Essential oils for scent.

Each body scrub recipe is a little bit different. Some include more complicated combinations of oils, and others are very simple. You can experiment with different oils to find the perfect scent. You can also try mixing exfoliating ingredients like sugar, ground coffee, almond meal or other finely ground item. The most common body scrub bases are brown sugar and salt.

Salt is used for body scrubs that soothe sore muscles. You can use sea salt, table salt or epsom salts depending on your personal preference.

Use sugar for a more gentle experience and for body scrubs intended to smell especially yummy. Use white or brown sugar according to your preference.

Try adding oatmeal to your mix in cold weather. Oatmeal is used to calm dry, itchy skin and can be soothing to skin that it irritated.
