DIY Cosmetic Vinegar
Benefits
Vinegar combined with essential oils can be used to:
- Increase blood circulation to the skin

Used as an antiseptic (preventing yeast and bacteria growth)
- Remove excess oil.
- It hydrates the skin and is often used to treat dry, scaly skin.
- It balances the skin’s PH levels.
A few common uses for vinegar lotions include: Using it as a cleanser, toner, to treat allergic skin reactions, as a cellulite treatment, head lice and dandruff treatment, acne remedy, itching remedy, to treat fungal infections, treating blisters, removing skin tags and warts, improving skin tone and much more.
How to Make your own Cosmetic Vinegar
NB - Use essential oils that are suited to your skin type and needs.
Measure out your dry plant material, add it to the vinegar and add the essential oils. Cosmetic vinegars that contain plant material should be left to macerate for the period stated below. Leave in a screwtop jar in a windowsill during that time.
To use your cosmetic vinegar
Add one tsp of the vinegar mix to 1 cup of still bottled water to cleanse your face and/or 4 tbsp into your bath water.

Lavender,
Rosemary and Rosewood Cosmetic Vinegar
- 250ml vinegar (Always buy the best quality white wine or Cider vinegar.)
- 1.5ml
lavender, 1.5ml rosemary, 1.5ml rosewood essential oils
- 1 tbsp Glycerine
Calendula and Elder Flower Cosmetic Vinegar
- 25g Calendula flowers, 35g Elder flowers
- 500ml
vinegar (Always buy the best quality white wine or Cider vinegar.)
- Macerate for two weeks
Lavender, Rose, pink and lime cosmetic vinegar
- 15g each of lavender flowers, rose petals, pinks and lime flowers
- 500ml of
vinegar (Always buy the best quality white wine or Cider vinegar.)
- Macerate for two weeks
