Lemon Skin Remedies

Lemons can do wonderful things for your skin when taken internally and when applied topically. On this page we will discuss both as well as the amazing benefits involved!

Remember to always use organic lemons!

Clarifying Moisturizer

Use lemons as a natural moisturizer to clear your skin from all spots and to hydrate it. All you need to do, is mix a few drops of lemon juice with a teaspoon of coconut oil. Apply to the skin in circular motions. Leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse off and pat dry.

Honey is also antibacterial, so the combination of honey and lemon is the best for acne application.

Natural Skin Lightener and Brightener

Got darker patches of skin on your face, elbows or knees? Cut a lemon in half and rub on all the darker spots. Leave on for a few minutes, rinse off and enjoy a lighter complexion. ;-)

Lemon juice has been used to lighten age spots, dark spots and even fake tans.

Dilute with water or rose water if you have a sensitive skin.

Blackhead Remedy

Lemons are antibacterial and also removes extra oils from the skin. It is an excellent anti-acne treatment. Apply directly to the skin, or add a few drops of lemon juice to the water that you drink. Drinking a few tablespoons of lemon water every day will alkalise your body, this will give you hydrated clear skin. Try to drink 8 glasses of clean water with lemon juice daily for best results.

Natural Acne Remedies

Heal Fever Blisters Fast

Applying lemon juice topically will help the skin heal quicker. Drinking lemon juice will boost your immune system, which will not only heal the sores, but prevent them from appearing. The vitamin C in lemon is a powerful antioxidant.

Strengthen and Whiten your Nails

A few drops of lemon juice in coconut oil can be rubbed into clean nails and cuticles to remove stains and will help to prevent chipping if done regularly.

Exfoliating Scrub

Lemon contains citric acid, which acts like a natural skin peel treatment. This will help remove the top dead layer of skin cells. I like to add a few drops of lemon juice to a tablespoon of brown sugar and use this as a scrub. You can use this once a week. Your skin will look and feel amazing!

The recipe for one application:

1 tsp. of lemon juice

1 tsp. of jojoba oil

1 tbsp. of brown sugar

A drop of your favourite essential oil. I like to use lavender oil or Jasmin.

Rub the skin softly when using a sugar scrub, sugar is quite rough. You don’t want to hurt your skin. Be gentle.

Use it as an Insect Repellent

Lemon juice can be used as a natural alternative to harmful insect repellents. Mosquitoes hate lemon juice! Just add a few drops of lemon juice to coconut oil and apply liberally.

Warnings about using Lemon on your Skin

  • If you feel some stinging – You can dilute the lemon juice with equal parts of water. Should always be tested on a smaller area of skin first.

  • If you are using any other topical treatments, you should first consult your doctor before using lemon juice.
  • Use a good sun protection after treating your skin with lemon juice. Lemon juice can increase the risk of a bad sunburn.
